LEGAL NOTICE
WAREHAM FIRE DISTRICT
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
In accordance with Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 40, Section 56, the Wareham Fire District Prudential Committee will conduct a public hearing on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at 4:30 P.M. at Wareham Fire District, Station 2368 Cranberry Highway, West Wareham, MA to receive public input relative to their decision regarding the Fiscal Year 2025 residential factor. The residential factor determines the allocation of the real and personal tax burden among various classes of property. Oral and written information on the views of taxpayers of the District with respect to this matter will be received and considered up until the evening of the hearing, Thursday, November 21, 2024. Comments may be sent by mail to the Wareham Fire District Office, c/o George T. Barrett, Chairman, 2550 Cranberry Highway, Wareham, MA 02571. All comments received before the meeting will be read into the record at the hearing. Oral presentations may be made at the hearing.

NON-PAYMENT SHUT OFF POLICY
All original water bills are due within 30-days. Water bills in arrears greater than 30-days are subject to receiving a past due notice and interest charges as described in the rate schedule. The following actions will be taken after the past due notice is received:
1. If the bill is still outstanding 75 days after the original invoice and no contact is made to arrange for a payment, a letter of termination of water service is sent.
2. If payment is not received as previously described, you will receive a red-door knocker/termination notice with a final payment due date.
3. On the day the service is to be terminated, a Water Department Technician will attempt to provide verbal notice to any occupant of the premises that service will be terminated.
4. A service charge as defined in the rate schedule shall be assessed for any unpaid balance due. Any customer, prior to the termination of service, may agree to a written payment plan with the Water Department to avoid shut-off provided the account is not in default of a current payment plan.

3/17/21 - DOXO ONLINE BILL PAY HAS NO AFFILIATION WITH THE WAREHAM FIRE DISTRICT
DOXO bill pay is a third-party bill paying service that uses the District address and contact information on their website to make it appear as if they are affiliated with the Wareham Fire District. They are NOT. Customers who attempt to pay their water bills through DOXO may be hit with excessive fees and the District has no control over when the payment will be received.
